Egyptian Chamber
More work and some news. So I'm working with Liquid Development on a game coming out next year, but on Oct 25th I'll be heading down to Venice Beach to to work at Blur Studio's on an upcoming game cinematic. I'm really looking forward to working at Blur Studio's, they produce some amazing work.
Also, some more personal work I've done that isn't a character.

Viking! Update04
Thought I'd share my recent work. Not done with the modeling still some tweaks I want to perform. This is probably one of the more complicated models I've done, the scale mail is tough, still need to move those little guys around some more. So far I've only zbrushed the horse, his face, and arm sleeve. I do want to texture him but it could be awhile before I ever get around to that.
He's supposed to be sleeping on the job. I want to tweak his pose a little more to get that across, such as, having his head resting against the spear, and having him leaning over a little more on the saddle.
It's getting some attention at Zbrush Central - Link

Don't go towards the light
So I've been doing this on my spare time and I think I've finally fished with it. the weird looking sea creature was inspired by Carlos Huante characters designs. This is the first time I used a lot of different render passes adn I thinked it worked out pretty well. Also, one of my first attempts at using mental ray.

2nd Place
Sweet I took 2nd place for CGSoceity in the Dominance War IV Mini #2. This is just the placing for your particular team. Now that each team has their top 3, a group of judges will decide which are the best of each teams top three combined. Not sure when this will be decided but I'll be sure to post when it happens.

UPDATE: Female Character
Update: I've worked on her face a lot, a lot happier with it. I was looking at different monitors at work and found out that the old renders were a lot darker, so I've lightened them up.
Alex, I've thickened the fur on the spear, I think it looks a lot better.
OLD
So I'm finally nearing the end of one of my characters for my new demo reel. I'll be tweaking things on her a bit more, but nothing big. The next character I'll be tackling is the Viking, which I posted a WIP of earlier with the woman.

Giant Post
Well, I'll be in Italy for the next two weeks so I thought I'd post some work-in-progress images and Apple Jacks stuff before I'm off.
Viking and Trader: I still have texturing work to do and some modeling on these guys left to do. I really want to make these two mint so look out for the finish of these two when I get back from Italy.
Some fun Zbrush Sculpts
A new render of Venom and a crazy monster thing inspired by the concept art from Guild Wars.
These are some props I modeled & textured for the Apple Jacks: Big Apple commercial. I also lit and rendered a couple shots in the commercial and modeled & textured the tree, rocks, various shrubs and stuff. (Bent Image Lab)

Venom, again!
I've decided to re-do the venom I had done awhile ago. I'm not done with the base (what he's standing on). I want to integrate it better with venom, show it taking over venom. For those who don't know Venom is created by this ooz like substance that takes over people.
Whenever I finish this I'm going to get a 3d print of it.

Clydesdale
I've been working on the model of a clydesdale on and off. The model was done in 3ds max, and detailed in zbrush.
A technical note: At work and home we've been using gamma 2.2. The default gamma in 3ds max is 1.0. With gamma 2.2 it is boosting the colors, not sure technically if that is right, but anyways it actually changes the values of the RGB channel in maps, which will mess up your normal maps. So for awhile I have not been able to use normal maps at work or home. Until we discovered that gamma 2.2 is the problem and that to get around this problem when you select a texture map file in the material editor, in max, you tell the computer to over-ride the system gamma, if you are using gamma 2.2, and select gamma 1.0 and your normal maps should work!!!

Digital Arts and Stash!
Some exciting news, Bent Image Labs was featured in Digital Arts magazine in the UK for the work we did on the Coke commercial. Also, Bent was featured on Stash, a DVD released monthly that highlights some of the best commercial animations, motion graphics, and short films. The whale I zbrused and textured is on the cover of the DVD!

Coke “Hidden Formula” Toad
I posted earlier the article at Motionographer about the coke commercial we did at Bent Image Lab. I thought I would share the toad I worked on. I did the model and textures. Galen Beals did the lighting when it's on the deck of the ship. The deck of the ship is actually a live set and the tribal guy on the ship is stop-motion doll.
